Kentucky State Beekeepers Associations
Hello fellow beekeepers!
I am contacting you concerning the Fall meeting of the Kentucky State Beekeepers which will take place December 5 in Smithland, Ky at the Livingston County Extension Office located at 803 U.S. Hwy 60 East. We will have an Executive Meeting at the breakfast area at Patti’s Inn located at 1017 Dover Road, Grand Rivers, Ky northeast of I24 at exit 31 beginning at 7:00pm Central Time Friday, December 4.
The reason for the Executive meeting will be to confirm nominations for officers for next year, 2016. We are now accepting nominations for Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-President. The offices of Secretary and Treasurer are held yearly while the Vice-President will become the President-elect in 2017 and eventually the President in 2018. We would like your help in filling the nominations with beekeepers you feel would benefit and advance our association. The KSBA needs officers who are devoted to beekeeping and willing to volunteer their services and ideas to further the KSBA. The past couple of years we have sought to redevelop the KSBA into an organization equal to the groups in surrounding states.
Currently we are redesigning the KSBA website with a number of new additions such as links, pages and memorials that will help Kentucky beekeepers both beginning and advanced as well as our statewide associations in general. It will take several weeks to get our site to the point we are seeking so check in from time to time and watch us develop. One of the key additions will be an add on web site for each state association where they can post their news and other information they see fit. We are also seeking to advance to the point where we are an integral part of the beekeeping schools and field days that take place every year by using our position to help acquire key note speakers for these events and help with the honorariums required for these speakers.
These are just a few of the advances we are instituting and welcome other ideas. That is why I am contacting each association seeking nominations for these positions. If you know of those who would keep our association going forward and fill the vacancies for next year please submit their names and a brief bio so we can vote on them at our Fall meeting. During my tenure I have heard various criticism about different things the KSBA should be doing so now is your chance to nominate those who can implement these ideas. Please submit your nominations to me at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also call me or message me on my cell direct at 270-404-0648 with your nominations. Please bear in mind that I live in an isolated area and that there are parts of my farm where I do not receive a cell signal so please leave a message and I promise I will return your call if needed. Thank you very much for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you. We have more planned for our association in 2016 including the revival of our newsletter to all our members either by email or a hard copy through the US mail.
John M. Benham
KSBA President 2015
